Prompt: After seeing the power of BIM (building information modeling) also known as VDC (virtual design & construction) building Frank Gehry's Walt Disney Concert Hall, MA Mortenson wanted to apply similar design/build thinking to all of their projects.
Insight: VDC serves a project to eliminate risk in time delays, wasted material, on-site conflicts and project planning. The field is new, so work with construction project managers to develop models of critical items project by project.
Solution: As part of the on-site general contractor and construction management team, created and managed 3-dimensional CAD models to coordinate the aesthetic, quality, schedule, safety, budget and schedule implications of construction decisions. Regular work included MEP coordination, models for self-performed structural concrete systems, 4D models of construction sequences, underground utility coordination and construction site logistics.
